obd1 b16 into 99 civic si
i just swapped an obd1 b16 into my 99 si and it will not start. it cranks and all but it doesn't start. it started right after the swap was done but it would jump up to 7k rpm and then drop down to 1k and just rev up to 4k. but now it does not even start. i swapped the obd1 intake manifold with the obd2 manifold, the obd1 distributor with the obd2 distributor, obd1 alternator to obd2 alternator and the oil pump as well. i also put in a chipped p28 obd1 ecu and it still does not start. am i missing anything? any information is greatly appreciated thanks again.
just a quick question...
are you saying that you changed everything to obd2 then used an obd1 ecu?
wouldn't you need the obd2 ecu to run the obd2 parts?
this is more of a question then it is an answer. i really have no idea. i am about to put a obd0 b16 in my 98 civic and will need to know the answer to your question also.

piston rings were gone on the newer motor and it had like 170k miles on it, it would have been more expensive to rebuild also
and the older b16 cost 500 dollars less than the newer one

An obd0 B16 probably has more miles than your motor you took out by this time.
Rings and bearings would have only cost about 300.00 or so. Less than 500.00 for bearings, rings, deglaze, water pump, timing belt, tensioner and spring, head gasket.
Then you would have a basically new bottom end again. Just curious.

No u dont need a obd2 ecu to run obd2 parts. i have a 2000 em1 and i have mine converted to a chipped p28 which is obd1 and it runs my obd2 motor... and i have been running it with it for over a year now
