Default Converting metric to standard via tap?

I bought a master cylinder and the master cylinder rod is standard 5/16-24. The bracket on the clutch pedal is 8.00mm X 1.00mm. They appear to be the same thread/pitch but I found out that they aren't.

I was just wondering if anyone has ever re-tapped a metric threaded hole into a standard threaded hole?

Wow, those are really close.

I would just re-tap it.

if they are close, then if you tap it you'll destroy the threads. You'd most likely have to go one size bigger.

just drill the hole in the brake pedal bracket oversize and weld a 5/16-24 nut over the hole to thread into.
