91 Civic LX won't start
I was driving, the car cough, a little black smoke and she quit running. I checked spark. Fire at plugs. I checked for a code. None. When I turn the key to on I get one quick flash at the ECU then nothing. No code on the ecu means bad ecu. Before I replace the ECU I was wondering if there was anything that could prevent the ecu from working. When I first turn the key to on I get the wirring of the fuel pump and the click (main relay). Any thoughts.

sounds like a mechanical problem(blown HG, etc.) your ecu is fine... that first flash means it has power and is working correctly. do a comp. test.
