Default ECU type..

How can I tell if an ECU is a Manual or Auto? Is there a special code written on it somewhere?

Its an OBD-1 P08 ecu... There's alot of codes on the thing.. Underneath the bar code it reads: "3720-P08-900" and under that it says "461-135781 ARJ" Anything else I can look for? Anybody??
