Default ignition coil

Hello,

My family and I are on vacation. I was making a drive of about 10 hours when my check engine light came on. We are now in Gulf Shores, AL and there are no parts stores around. I did however en route to our destination find an Auto Zone. They checked the car with their computer and the reading said that it was an Ignition Coil.
I looked under the hood and apparently the ignition coil is built under the distributor cap? I have a Haynes Manual but it's at home!! GRRRR

Is this a pretty straight forward job? I can probably drive about 30 miles to a parts store and use their tools to replace it. I'm just wondering, since if never seen a honda coil, if this job requires just the normal tools?

The car IS definitely mis-firing and on our way home tuesday I just dont wanna be on the side of the road with wife and two babies. Thanks in advance for any replies.

What year, model, engine, etc.? On some cars, it's in the distributor, and on some outside the distributor, etc. . .

Trim level (DX, LX, EX)? I'll see if I can find anything on the 6th gen. Otherwise, somelse may be able to chime in before hand.

6th gen coil is very easy to swap out. While you're in there change the cap and rotor. I think all you need is a 10mm socket and a screw driver.

AWESOME. You guys are great! It looks easy enough. It's an EX by the way. I found a parts store that's abou 30 miles from our hotel room. The price was only like $60-$70. I'm about to head that way now.

Thanks agains for all of your replies!!
