12.2 Compression pump gas?
12.2:1 compression. in my h22a4. can i use pump gas?
im not 12.2 yet but will be after the head gasket swap.
I will have lots of dyno time, im worried that it will still ping after tune.
91 octane, bottom end built. acl & arp.
will this be an issue?
edit: if it matters. 0.025 mill

itll be close. you'll need a good tune to run pump gas. im at 12.3 on my ITR and it pings occasionally. i run 91 on a tune and i have to run octane booster every tank of gas
Go to Sherwin Williams and buy some tolulene. Put a gallon in with each fill up.
You will really have to retard the timing with that much compression.
Check your area to see if E85 is available. It is 105 octane.

Ditto that! Toluene is 114-117 octane so just formulate a mix that works. I would say if you can get it to tune without it, just use the 91.
I have run more Toluene than I can remember in my car. I used to run it with my 100 shot with no timing retard and never a single sign of detonation.
I assume youre in California or one of those other stupid 91oct states.
Keep us posted on results....and let me know if you have ANY Toluene questions.

or convert over to e85 because thats like 109 octane</TD></TR></TABLE>
105-106..................
for that idea! Thats what I'll be running in my 12:1+ G24 setup!
Right now: 93oct=$3.99/gal & E85=$3.09/gal
Yes we get raped in Chicagoland!!

I live in TX and we have 91 octane, well, the highest. I got type sh pistones on a h23 shaved .030. comp should be at 10:8.1 or so. I guess 91 octane will be no problem, but should I retard the timing or is it ok as it is? I know nothing about timing the car.

I think more like 11:8 would be your compression. your using h22a4 pistons on a h23 with a .030 mill?

welp i think xylene will be my solution, i plan on making a mix to get about 95 octane. If i can find Toluene for cheap ill use it instead.
meanshyguy
I dont think you should pull any timing, if you think its gonna ping, which i dout ( with a tune) just raise the octane

i was gonna say with a 12:1 you are fine on 93 octane, I mean thats what we have around here. but 91 would need a really good tune but should still work.
It sucks to live here guys, I mean, I live in El Paso tx, right across the border, it's hard to find good shops and people that know what they're doing, specially on imports, even muffler shops have messed up or done a crappy *** job on my piping. I bought a spoon chip which was installed by a friend from work, because I had another one installed before and the guy didn't know what the hell he was doing, like I mentioned earlier. I don't remember seeing any Sherwing Williams gas station but I'll look around, and hey, well by the numbers they gave me, the stock compression on an H23 is 9:6.1, the usdm type sh H22 pistons that I bought are 10:1.1, millilng the head was supposed to raise the comp by :8-, Somebody here did the math and told me I was gonna be at about 10:4.1 by milling the head 0.030, plus the pistons would give me another :4+, so that's like 10:8.1. Correct me if I'm wrong, and I plan to put 91 octane if I can't find anything else. I'll look for tunning shops, I doubt there's any descent ones though.
Sherwin Williams is a paint supply store, I think. definitly not a gas station.

Im pretty sure that h22a4 (p5m) are the pistons in the SH.
