Default Helmet question

I read some of the other helmet threads, and I'm still wondering if the expensive ones everybody rave about are really any better than the more modestly priced ones, or are you really just paying for the shoei/suomy/arai/agv decal, the graphics, and maybe a little less weight? How much lighter are they??

There are differences, some of the more expensive ones vent better, etc.,

Read the product and see what they offer and compare. If you're budgeting, pick what is more applicable to you. Good Luck! I've owned an RX7 Corsair, an AGV Stealth, and an Icon Mainframe. So if you need to ask a question about that, ask away.

Just remember to keep your visor down at all time for proper safety. lol

are you trying to justify the reasoning behind going with a less expensive helmet?

A little bit. Everyone swears by them but I'm a 20 year old kid with limited resources and I figure if I can get just as good a helmet in a KBC or HJC or what have you, I might as well spare myself a few hundred bucks, 'cause graphics aren't that high on my priority list. I might even go with a solid color. I'm not even really worried about weight, lightness would just be an added frill.

I have a hjc cs12, love it, dot and snell approved, pretty comfortable, light weight, and under $100 Solid black and fits like a glove.

See that's what I'm saying, a perfectly good helmet can be had at a fraction of the cost. I've been looking at the KBC Force RR... Good features, good fit (tried one on at a dealership), good graphics, MSRP <$200

K thanks for the help guys

i used to work at a motorcycle dealership and i would say that i would prefer going with the lighter and better venting helmet. cuz on those days when its hot you would want the vents that come in the higher end helmets. and the weight does matter going on long rides it will save your neck. and also helmets like the hjc just fit like ****.

+1

I have the same helmet. Got it on ebay for $67 brand new. Can't beat that. It's a little noisy at 65+ mph but I can deal with it.
