b16a1 vtec problem
Hi guys and gals im new to the site. I got a quick question. My check engine light is coming on, seems when im pressing the clutch and and as the rpm die off the light comes on. Also i can usally hear my vtec kick in and now nothing. Is there a way i can trouble shoot the vtec solinoid or other components to see if this is the problem? thanks and by the way 90 white crx b16a1 with y1 tranny straight swap from a integra xsi i think.
I had a loose ecu pin once. No V-TEC when driving. I didn't understand codes back then, ...damn this was 7 years ago now that I'm thinking about it... , sorry for the side thought. I just checked all my wiring and found it, 2 mintue fix.

Well for one your wrong. My vtec works just fine and I have a check engine light. Not sure what pos your driving. And two your an *** hole. Along with the first guy that responded. The guy you freaked out on was just giving him a suggestion on what to check.
There are ways to trouble shoot. Look up what code your having. Go into search and type in something like ECU Codes under archive. That will give you a good list of different threads. Look in the ones with FAQ on them. I know one will give you the ecu codes and it will tell you what your code means. Another one has the trouble shooting for each code. So I would check those out and see what you can come up with.

There are certain check engine lights that will not allow you to engage vtec, such as:
1. vtec spool solenoid valve #21
2. oil pressure switch. code #22
3. VSS code #17
(just to name a few)
Jakscivic: I never freaked out on anyone. The information you posted is incorrect as I have proved above. Your POS has a check engine light, and you think you can help others? You called me and ******* but you dont even know how to spell the word (yes, it is one word). (http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/*******)

You said vtec wont engage if a check engine light is on. That ment any check engine light. And my check engine light isn't something I can take care of unless I had hondata or something to turn it off. And yes I can help people. I realize some check engine lights may not let vtec engage, but not all like you phrased it earlier.
Congradulations!!!! You fixed your car seven years ago!!!
Now..... What the *** does this have to do with his problem??? NOTHING
I would call that freaking out. The guy was just trying to help by giving his experience. And not everyone spells everything perfect. That way of arguing is flawed to bring up spelling. Congratulations you can use spell check. I don't use spell check because people get what Im saying. Everything doesn't need to be spelled perfect.
Oh and by the way you spelled congratulations and the F word wrong. lol

pull the passenger floor carpet down, look at the red LED on it.
it will blink morose code style and tell you what code that is.
i cant garuntee the code is the source of your problem, but it would be an excellent place to start regardless.
guys REPORT posts when you see someone cursing someone out for no reason.
