Default Is 35mpg good for a 93 accord lx?

Gas prices suck. Well maybe I just think im special or something, but I just really wanna know if this is what everybody else gets, mpg wise. On my last few tanks ive gotten 34.4mpg and 35mpg. Is this what you guys are getting?
>Also, i hear so much about this "seafoam" to help out clean the gas tank. I have also heard this helps you car run a lot better. Should I do this, i just have no clue about the stuff. And would it help if I changed my oxygen sensor to help bring up the milage as well.

I've never heard of a cb7 getting 35mpg
Best I've pulled was 29mpg
No harm in teh seafoam, I seafoam my tank every oil change.

Yea my CB7 has never gotten more than 26 to the tank. It is rated at 20 City 28 Highway on the window sticker. 35mpg does not make sense, check you division, or actually fill your tank all the way.

DAMN! Is your car stock? I have a 95 and the most I have seen out of my tank is 24mpg.

Are you sure you are doing your calculations correctly?

On my car, I learned that from a quarter tank to to full is about 10.5-11 gallons. I fill up at the same station, typically the same pump if I can, and I hit the trip thingy, and I usually get 250-260 miles before I am back down at a quarter tank.

I have a 91 accord lx manual and have only gotten 35mpg two or three times, and that was between Montgomery and Destin, and only because I was going 45-65 mph with only a couple stops in four hours. Also, I had 150k on the car then, have 312k on it now, but I still get 27mpg. I have used seafoam for cleaning the air intake (which created other problems), but haven't used the engine treatment. I would avoid using any engine treatments at all. Fuel injector cleaner should get the job done for you until you get to 300k or the motor starts showing signs of a problem.

I assume you don't do it this way but the way you typed that makes it seem you calculate your MPG off the gas gauge and trip miles. Like I said, I'm sure you don't but thats the way your post sounded to me.

Just in case anyone is unsure on how to calculate your MPG (I have actually seen people ask how, so...) you fill up your tank to full, reset the trip miles in the speedometer, drive a week or whatever until you have to fill up, go to the gas station and fill up again to full. Now take the trip miles and divide it by how many gallons you just put in.

Here is an example (I just filled up yesterday and this is what I got on my 92 Civic with D16Y8)
275.0 trip miles
put 6.969 gallons in (only have a 10 gal tank)
so 275.0 / 6.969 = 39.5 MPG (that is typical for me, seen as much as 48.7 MPG)

and to the OP.
yes, 35 MPG is good

^^^ That's the way I do it and I've seen up to 33 mpg. I was also driving about 80-85 mph and getting those miles. I'm pretty sure if I slowed it down a bit I'd see better numbers. Not bad for a 13 year old car.

I think the real question is,
Is the car on the OEM tire wheel combo.
If he is running on diff size tires and the odo hasn't been recalibrated for the new size he will read higher/lower than true mileage

even still, as long as the O.D. of the tire is close to stock it won't be far enough off to make that much of a difference.

well, for me I have a alt size combo, only off by like .25 inch and my speedo is off by li.e 2mph. The next alternate tire size throws my speedo off by almost 5mph.
This is what the tire calculator thing tells me.
if the speedo is off by 5mph, how much does that affect the odo?

On my Civic I've switched between stock rim/tire, 14 rim/tire that was real close and a stock 15" 02' Si rim/tire that is 1" bigger in diameter and my speedo wasn't off but only a few MPH (got pulled over for going to fast through a small town on my way up north, didn't realize the speed had changed. He asked how fast I was going I told him, he chuckled and told me what he clocked me at and wrote me a city citation). His number and my speedo were within a few MPH iirc. And that was with the 02' Si rim/tire combo.

My MPG never really changed that much either. Don't recall the exact numbers for that but I know I was always between 36-40 MPG regardless of which tires I had on.

They usually refer to the speedo being off be a percentage...if it's off by 5 mph as in you're going 25 and it says 20, compared to if you're going 105 and it says 100. I'd say the best way to calculate how close your speedo is is to find a stretch that you know is a mile long, drive the whole thing at 60 mph, and clock how long it takes you. Under a minute = your speedo is reading lower than actual speed, over a minute = higher than actual speed. And the # of seconds that it's off by taken as a percentage of a minute could be used to calculate the speedo error.

someone explained how to do this by setting the cruise control and using a stop watch. Something about going 5 miles on the freeway at a set speed using the mile markers to gauge distance and then do something to figure out the exact speed you were going and reference that to what your speedo says. But for the life of me I can remember the thread it was in nor can I find it.

i routinely got 34mpg in a 94LX when driving at 75-80mph so 35mpg is not out of reach on an accord

I got 34mpg with a '98 V6 at speeds of 70mph.......

I currently get 32mpg with a 02 CL type S at 75mph
