Poor Gas Mileage
I have a '07 Accord V6 Ex-L and it's getting really poor gas mileage. I mean I know the sticker at the dealer stating the average gas mileage is usually off but I'm averaging about 12-15 mpg. and that's normal driving. If I get on it and use the vtec it's even worse. I went to the dealer and naturally the service writer said that that was normal, especially around winter time. But I mean I bought the car back in late summer and I've noticed poor gas mileage since then. Do you think somethings wrong? If so what exactly could be causing this? Any help is appreciated. Thanks

I feel your pain. I just bought an 07 EX-L V6. I have 650 miles on it right now. I am getting around 15-17 mpg. Since there is no computer, I have to manually calculate this. Largely city driving, a little highway mixed in there. I have the stock rims with the low profile Michelins. I am driving pretty tame. I don't really get on it to hard.
I guess that the reason this is terribly disappointing to me is due to the giant moose of a Toyota Highlander I traded in for this was getting an average of 17.5 mpg per the computer. My Bimmer, a 325i, was getting about 20mpg on avg and I drove it pretty hard.
I am hoping the mileage will improve as I run it more and the weather is a bit nicer.

In my experience, it takes a few thousand miles to start losening these things up. The fuel economy should improve steadily. I haven't ever had a problem achieving at least what the sticker MPG estimate stated.

Re: Poor Gas Mileage (Perfectionist)
I sure hope that is the case. I am getting about 120 - 130 miles out of a half tank of gas. Very disappointing. That is actually closer to 14.5 - 15 mpg. Awful.

I have an '07 Accord EX V6, and the gas mileage has been getting worse over time, not better. Up until about 15,000 miles, I was getting about 23 mpg, with my driving around 50/50 city and hwy. Over the last 5,000 miles, it has gone down to about 15 mpg, and my driving habits have not changed. As a matter of fact, I have been trying to drive easier and slower. I've done everything I can think of the get better mileage - new air filter, changed oil, checked tire pressure, etc. My Jeep Cherokee got better mileage than this; not real happy about trading it in!!!

The fuel guage is only a rough estimate and cannot be relied upon to acurately measure fuel economy. After all, the term is "Miles per Gallon". You need to reset the trip odometer when you fill up. Then, at the next fill up, you write down how many miles were driven and divide that by how many gallons it took to refill the tank. Average the result over at least three fill ups and you will have your true MPG.

Re: Poor Gas Mileage (Perfectionist)
I do that every time I get gas. I wait for the light to come on then fill. It cost me 64 dollars last ime and a MPG of 15.5 or something like that! Despiciable. it is a V6 (3.0L), but shouldn't it get better than my mother's 3.3 V6 in her Plymouth Voyager Minivan?
240 is my average miles per tank. then at 15 or so miles to fill up, it brings the MPG to right around 16. Sucks at over $4/gal.

Re: Poor Gas Mileage (joshwairi)
Damn, that should be checked out. Today I filled up my first full tank, and I got 23.7 mpg, and that included a hell of a lot of romping on it the last two weeks. I drove on an actual highway for about 30 of the miles, and everything else has been city driving.

Two factors that will suck the life out of your gas mileage: weight and tire pressure
- make sure your tires have the recommended amount of air
- make sure you are not hauling something extremely heavy in your trunk
- finally, air filter(K&N), plugs, pull battery terminal to reseat the ECU

You should expect shitty MPG if your car has "dubbs" on it.
