I have a quarter inch left to sink into the tranny on a b18b/gsr tranny swap on the passensger side. I'm guessing its the ring clip is the culprit. Do any of you have a trick to getting it to snug down, It seems like with enough umphh it will seat in there. I dunno. These are 96 integra axles that matched the transmission. Any suggestions or techniques would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

 

Make sure everythings lined up correctly, and if you think its the ring, bring the axle back out, and make sure it isnt bent or mis-shaped. Most ppl are going to tell you to keep trying, which may be the case, sometimes you really gotta man-handle them in place.

 

Try using a rubber mallot as well, not too hard, but to give it a few good taps to slide it in place.

 

put a block of wood against the end of the shaft give it a few light taps with a hammer it will slide into place

Just smack them in as hard as you can.

dude you shouldn't need to hit it at all but you can usually when they just dont wanna go it its because they're dirty take it out and clean it good i usually just use an air chuck to blow it off really good then boom slides right in and if this still dont work then use a rubber mallet and TAP it a few times

 

just hand tighten the axle nut and use the hub as your hammer.. usually you wont need to but ive seen times when you really had to bang that bad boy in there!

 

Also sometimes if you take the axle back out, and rotate the lock ring a little so it's sitting different, it will slide in, alot of times it just catches a edge or something, so movin it around a little bit helps, again in some cases, it's hard to know what's going on with yours because we are not there, but I would say banging on the end would be saved for desperate measures, I just don't like the idea of hammering on my cv joints. Just my opinion.

what i usually do when this happens is i lube it up alittle and it slides right in.

Worked for me, no leaks and hasn't popped out since last year.

 

ok I will pop it and rub it down with some grease give the axle a little rotation and try round 2 right now. So close yet so far. Thanks for the replies and any more insight please feel free to chime in. Thanks.

 

lube it up as stated above, while inserting it in the tranny grab the housing that buts up against the tranny, and wiggle and rotate it as you insert the shaft and it should slide in

 

ok, I went to napa and bought a new axle and gave them a shitty ls abs one that I had lying around extra for the core. Still same dilemma. Ive been putting some muscle into it but it is a funny angle. The axle feels like it is locked in, I have to use a crow bar to pop it out but it still has a little room left to go, the mallet doesn't seem to be helping much, I don't want to bang the boot too hard either. Sorry about the long sentence, so close yet so far.

 

it will go just play with it, I had the same issue last weekend. Lube the shaft, wiggle, spin, and push and it will eventually slide in

 

i will mess with it for the next couple days, this is super frustrating, almost as bad as the bitch pin so far.
