HELP! I think I may have screwed up something in my tranny.
i was revving about 5k rpm before shifting and didnt push my clutch pedal in all the way i got a grinding sound but i didnt force it in. i slowed down and then put it into gear but when i pushed my clutch pedal in i felt some pulsating grinding noises underneath my foot. i am able to shift upwards without any problems. The problem now is that every time i push my clutch pedal all the way down i get a spinning whining sound from my transmission and it does not matter what gear i am in. I am thinking it could be eaither my throw out bearing or my transmission. could anyone hear possibly take a guess at what might be my problem. thanks.

if it happens in every gear I would venture to guess that the springs in your clutch popped out, those are very bad about doing that, potentially, if this is the problem, your flywheel, pressure plate and clutch plate could need to be replaced.
it doesn't sound like a TO bearing, I would assume you would have some sound accompanying a messed up TO bearing, but I could be wrong.
if it was something in your tranny, you would probably not feel it through the clutch pedal, and it would most likely only affect the gear that you were going into.
your best bet though is to take it to a professional that can actually drive it around and feel what you are talking about, and make an assesment himself, rather than taking our word for it, since we can only give anecdotal advice.
good luck with it.

I think it IS the release bearing because the only time it spins is when you push in the clutch and it pushes on the pressure plate. I have no idea why it would happen all of a sudden when you misshifted.
I agree, but I also dissagree.
when you don't push in the clutch, the TO bearing is floating around the input shaft, so there will be some rotation, and you will usually hear it if there is something amis with it.
but all of this is just drops in a rainstorm until it is diagnosed and taken apart by someone that can actually test drive it and look at the stuff first hand.
