Default Vtec crack sith CEL?? WTF???

I just got a 95 DX with a B16. It came with the CEL on. I checked the code and it was a 1 for O2 sensor. For engine mangement it had an Shogan piggyback,(which is now for sale). It would crack Vtec but seemed like it had tuning issues, since it would pick up quick form 2000rpms to 4500rpm, then it would feel way slower form 4600rpms to 5500rpms. At 5500 is when vtec cracks, then the car comes back to life and huals ***.
So i decided to remove the Shogan and hooked up a STOCK P28. The O2 CEL code still pop on. I when to drive the car and it acted EXACTLY the same!! It picked up quick, got slower, then vtec cracked. All this with a CEL, on a stock ECU.

what the hell is going on???

Maybe its running to rich or lean cuz it needs an o2 sensor? Hence it is throwing a code for the o2 sensor. I could be wrong tho, but it is a good place to start.

its really hard to fix a concern when you know all the other engine systems (one being the o2) are not 100%. I would fix your cel and then go from there

Depends on the CEL you are running. If you have too many, then yes, VTEC wont pop, but if its for minor things, it wont affect VTEC at all.

if your VTEC is "cracking" then you might want to get that fixed first. then fix your o2 sensor. then get your ecu tuned or chipped for a b16.

not trying to steal the thread but i kind of have a similar problem, in the sense that its the exact opposite.

im throwing a cel, but i really cant tell if its trying to be 25..26 or even 36?

i have a 94 del sol with a b16 swap and i did it myself and then took it to get the vtec wired by a creditable shop. I was told there to replace the knock sensor then the vtec would engage.

well the problem is im running a chipped p28 that doesnt read for a knock sensor, and my vtec still wont engage. What could my problem be?

If you have a chipped p28 then you need someone to disable the knock sensor on your chip.
