Default Anyone make their own sleeves?

I have a project in mind, no one makes sleeves like I would need/want (not off the shelf). I'm also cheap.

I work in a machine shop and have access to anything I would need, but my question is- What material would be best to use?

Any help/insight/opinion/guesstimate is appreciated.

I'm sure Darton could supply you with some blanks. We make are own sleeves and cylinders (harley-davidson motorcycle) from ductile iron.

What exactly do you ask your suppliers for when ordering?

All the metal shops here give me a blank stare when I ask for ductile iron.

One of the guys at work used to work in 2 strokes (mostly sleds).

He said the used 4340 for the sleeves in their race engines.

That looks like a good option, they have a location in Laval that's only a couple hours from me.
4" OD X 3.25" ID should do the trick.
