is there anything i have to watch out for if i decide to put CTR spec pistons in my jdm itr motor? will the compression be too high with a stock headgasket?

what? with the oem h/g, his c.r. will be in the 13+/1 area. you've been warned..........

 

running ctr in my B18c5 for a year now.

with cams and blah blah.

clay'd the piston and there's ENOUGH valve to piston clearance.
and had no problems yet . sooooo..

and the c/r would be 12.5 ish

I have been running CTR pistons in my Type R for over 2 years now. With close to 30,000 miles on an OEM head gasket with zero problems. I know people that put down 500 WHP on boost with OEM head gaskets.

 

im running ctr's in my ls/vtec running strong for 15,000 miles plus. comp is slightly over 13-1 with a gsr head.

 

my ctr piston'd r is running strong as hell and no signs of detonation... its all in the tuning, plus a bigger cam will bleed off enough compression anyways

 

Has anyone actually measured for compression with this setup? When I use the c-speed engine builder it spits out 11.75:1 as the compression. That is staying all OEM parts (b18c5).

There was a huge 30 page thread about exactly this in the All Motor forum. I believe the final number was 12.8:1 or something along those lines.

I guess I'll have to go look for that. Finding something with PCT or CTR in the All Motor forum should pose to be a chore. LOL

 

ya.. really tho. how can you "measure" the compression ratio?

is there a tool for that?
