Default painting panels?

I wanted to know what is the steps to painting trim panels, consoles, back panels etc... I tried to do it but it keeps on peeling off with just the lightest of stratches. this is the steps that I use. 1. Clean the surface with a little soap and water rinsing it very thoroughly. 2. Lightly scuff it with 600 grit paper. 3. Used SEM plastic prep (fallowed instructions on the back of can) and allowed to dry. 4. Used Bulldog adhesion promoter (also fallowed directions in back of can) and allowed to dry. 5. Used SEM plastic paint. Am I doing this right, if so why does it still peel off. Any advice and opinions are appreciated. Thanks.

its the paint reacting to the bull dog ,you can peel it off in big peices right ??? ,ive noticed this too ,use krylon fusion plastic paint ,is it kinda bubbleing to in the corners or the spot that messed up ??? and allso can you take a finger and drag it on the surface and paint just peels away ???

take the sand paper and sand those bad spots where it keeps happening if its the hole panel then do the hole panel

ive tried dupli-color paint and it works pretty good ,but the panel has to be perfectly clean ,then i hit it with the rattle can clear they make ,5 coats of that to be exact

and that krylon paint is the same but i noticed it can take more abuse ,im about to do my headliner with that dupli color interior dye I'll let you know how that stuff works ,ive seen it done on a guy a knows camaro ,and it turned out really good

good luck buddy

It doesn't bubble or peel at all but it just scratches off very easily. It looks good can't tell that its painted just by looking at it (well maybe to the trained eye) but the softer plastics like the e-brake handle, that came out nice and it does not scratch off easily. Maybe it might just be something in the hard plastic panels that is not allowing the paint to stick. I cleaned one of the panel with acetone really good and repeated the painting steps guess I will find out if it works or not tomorrow.

you might try using a sealer, I know a few different paint manufacturers require a double coat of sealer before paint is applied over there adhesion promoters
