Painting door moulding trim??

Painting door moulding trim??
So on my car the paint itself is in very good condition for a 13 year old accord... but the previous owner seems to have gotten wax on the plastic door moulding trim things. and they themselves are kinda of faded. my question is does someone know or have a good method of painting them? could i just tape off around them so i dont get paint on the actualy car body and... spray paint? is there a certain kinda of paint i should use? and how about prep work the trim is kind of textured so how could i sand it or something? any advice or words of wisdom is appreciated

You'll want to tape off very carefully and use a dye (I like the spray kind...you can also use a foam applicator). Because it's dye and not paint, it's very thin and won't change the texture. I would cover the car in plastic and cut holes where you're working, then tape off that area carefully. The dye will stain just about anything it gets on, including paint. For prep, clean it thoroughly, and then wipe with acetone until the towel comes off clean. Then you should be good to go.
