Speedo cable?
There's a green (i think it's green) wire from your vss going into your firewall, make sure it's connected correctly.
Did a shop do the work or was it DIY?

I had this problem arise with me i just had to replace the speedo cluster due to very high resistance on 1 of the coils.. i dont know what the specs are. to keep cost low for the moment take a friends cluster hook it up and see if you have the same problem.
