Default Buddy Club 3+ and stock B16A valvetrain

I have emailed BC about this issue and they responded and told me that I did NOT have to upgrade the valvetrain in a B16A to run the BC3+ cams. I don't think they would lie...but I wanted to check with you guys and see who's running them on a stock valvetrain and how long you've been doing it. Im definitely getting these cams in a month or two. I just don't want to drop a valve. I never have and never plan on overreving the motor. It's never been taken past 8100-8200. If I get these cams and run them with a stock valvetrain, I'll probably have my tuner set the rev limiter at 8k or 8100 just be safe. From all the dyno's I've seen, the BC3+'s stop making power around then anyways so it shouldn't hurt performance any basing it on that. I dunno...give some input guys. Thanks

I have heard of lots of people running around on stock vt with bc3's but in my opinion why risk it.

For the small amount of money it would take to get springs and retainers, why risk
your entire set-up? Also, if you upgrade the valvetrain you could run BC 4's.
Good luck!

Wow, I didn't even think of that. Would the BC4's work well on a stock compression B16? How much more power do they make over BC3+'s?

You will need more compression

That's what I was afraid of....I guess Im just going to get the ITR valvetrain, BC3+ cams, probably BC or Rage cam gears, and then eventually a thinner HG, flat faced valves and a really good tuning session. The BC3+'s seem to be awesome street cams. I have ITR cams right now and I don't expect much of an increase in peak power, unless the cam gear tuning helps that, I'd just like to have that midrange of the BC3's over the ITR's.

if ur getting into installing valve train, get ur self proper springs and retainers, they would be just 50 to 80 bucks above the cost.

Here is my B16B setup similar to what you are talking about to give you an idea of some numbers.

At least put dual valve springs/retainers......just cost extra $250-$350.

Thanks man. So what would be wrong with using a stock ITR valvetrain? BC themselves told me that I would be fine with the stock B16 valvetrain...I would think that with the ITR valvetrain, even just the ITR intake inner/outer springs, that I would be fine. Those are already much stronger then the factory B16's. Like I said, I don't over rev the motor...never have...never plan to.
