Default How much difference do pearls have on a base coat?

I'm thinking about having a pearl coat done over a color base (not black or silver base).

How much difference will it have on the base?

For example, if I were to shoot a black pearl on a green base coat...do I end up with black? Or will the green still come out at certain angles?

Or if you shot a silver pearl over green, would you get silver? Or still get green with some silver shimmer on it at certain angles?

The pearl mid-coat is very transparent and you would only be putting 3 coats of it on. So basically whatever base color you have will show. I'm sure you've seen Cadillac or Lexus's pearl white. It's a white base coat, with a white pearl mid-coat, the white shows through and mica flake in the mid coat gives the pearl effect. Personally I've never done any custom painting so I've only painted factory tri-stage, but knowing how transparent the mid-coat is, I'm sure whatever color your base coat is will show.

Edit: I'm not absolutely 100% sure on this
