Do I need to make marks for inner CV joint?
I forgot to do this when I disassembled my 97 accord AT inner cv joint. And found that I can install the rollers along any directions to the inboard joint. So my question is what is the reason of this alignment? Is this very important? If I have already lost this alignment, how could I do?
I would really like to help you. But I don't quite understand. (NOOB at tranny/suspension) When I took out my CV shaft, I didn't make any marks. (I have auto too) I just took out the old and in with the new.
edit* NVM I KNOW what you're talking about!!! Ummmmm I really doubt it you have to make a mark. Ummm let me see if I can find something on Google.
edit 2* in my opinion I don't get why you have to have marks. A CV joint is suppose to move freely. So there is no alignment. For me, I would just replace the whole shaft. Easier and I know it'll be done right. $50-70 is kinda expensive, but I mean it'll last you another 10 or more something years (with maintenance of the boot)
Oh yea just wait for other replies or go to autozone. Or search on Google. I may be wrong.

You make the marks on the roller and inboard joint, if you are re-using the inboard joint.
The inboard joint has grooves (tracks). Due to wear, the roller and grooves may have worn a little differently. The marking is done so reassembly is with the same roller in the same groove in the inboard joint. Sometimes ressembly in a different groove could result in looseness, binding, and/or premature joint failure. Doesn't mean it will happen though. Your choice.
