CV Joint Mess after going to Mechanic
Hi there,
I have a 99 Civic EX, recently I replaced both outer CV Joints. Driver side I did it kind of myself, was really difficult to take out the CV Joint from the shaft so I took the shaft to a Shop specialized in this kind of job.
However the passenger side after seeing it was toodificult and I needed an alignement anyway (changed my steering rack boots that same day) I decided to go to a mechanic with an alingment machine. This guy was a disaster:
- He ripped my lower ball joint rubber boot
- He installed my CV Joint without the stopper ring!! (axle was moving freely in and out the CV Joint)
The first days I got the car it was ok, no noise that I can recall. Now its pretty audible.
Called the guy and told my I needed a new shaft because he could not install the Stopper. Yesterday I put everything apart and I was able to put the stopper (he probably forgot) but I still hear the CV clicking.
Is it possible it broke because of this? I saw part of a stopper ring in the groove of the CV joint so maybe some other part got in there. I cant believe I have to tear that apart for the 3rd time .
I do not live in the US, i live in Uruguay and here I cannot get a complete rebuilt driveshaft sadly.

I've never rebuilt one before. But its better to get a rebuilt one so you won't have to worry about these hassles and ******* up the boot, **** like that. They do sell boot replacements though.

lol thanks everyone, specially slomofo!. Learnt english sice I was little, thanks god I did, trust me there isnt too much tech info about this Civic in spanish speaking countries.
I think I going to give it a shot and buy another outer CV joint. I have the car on sale, have to fix it somehow, its in really good condition except for this.
Thanks again!
