Default Header wrap

Is there an advantage to running this if the header is already ceramic coated ? How much will it normally decrease underhood temps ? I have heard it can crack a header, is that true ?

The only time that most people condone wrapping a header is if the header in question is made stainless steel, other then that, it's best not to mess with the stuff

EDIT: As far as under-hood temps go, a lot of places advertise 70%. I myself have tested it and seen about a 50% drop in my application

the wrap will greatly reduce temperatures when compared to ceramic coatings. However most ceramic coated headers are not stainless in which they would probably rust through if wrapped for a long time.

I have ceramic and it;s being wrapped. It works OK!

I am looking forward to stainless steel though. ceramic it flakes.

there are some downsize to wrappings, i would only wrap it if it was huge investment on a high end manifold. sometimes when you wrap them, moisture gets caught in them and puts a hole right through them.

but for any DC, Megan, etc.. i would not worry bout it. they cool down really fast.

from some searching and input from H-T i would say "no" to wrapping headers.
i'd worry about heat shielding things outside header like ac lines, cooling lines etc. like the above said the headers cool down fast and aslong as they arn't close to meltable hoses then ur fine. trapping heat inside header does help with performance. so if moisture wasn't an issue wrapping would be practical though.

I just bought a supercharger and instead of running the after cooler i am running a intercooler. I was wondering if it is safe to wrap by down pipe and so on..all the pipes? The pipes are made of aluminuim. I was planning to buy the get the heat wrap and the HT Silicone Coating spray that DEI sells. Just wanted to know if its a good idea or not. thanks
