Default T3/T4 turbo??? too big?

I don't know a whole lot about turbos so I'm here to learn. My buddy is selling his T3/T4 turbo and manifold for a SOHC Turbo setup. He's offering it to me for like 200-300 dollars... should I get it?

Is the t3/t4 turbo good? He said it starts spooling at 3k.

Thanks

depends on your goals for you set-up...

whats the trim size or gauge of the turbo?

how much power u want?

u using a stock block?

a t3/t4 is basically perfect for most stock block applications but just depends on what ur trying to do.....

My goals are to have a quick little daily driver. Nothing specific, simple as that.

Yea I'm gonna be using a stock Y7 block with about 126,000 miles on it.

I'm not looking for an incredible amount of power but I want a nice increase.

If I do a mini-me before turbo would that give me more power in the end? I've heard mini-me's are kind of a waste.

What is the A/R of the turbo? I would think for a SOHC a .48 would be good...but I'm not to familiar with D series.

Was going to agree, depending on the trim size it might work but I would not go to bog.

That, or even the 47 trim setup, would work well too in a .50a/r compressor in a .48A/R exhaust.

With a 3" dp and exhaust and small housing AR's, it would start producing some possitive pressure at 3k. But the last fully built d16 I saw with a t3/t04e 57trim took til 5k to hit 9psi.

Built, get a t3/t04e. Stock, get a t3. But for $200-300 for the mani and turbo, assuming the turbo doesn't need a rebuild, and that neither are ssautochrome parts (or similar chinese crap), jump on it.

You could try a mini-me, but from what I've seen, a t3/t04e will be more than enough to push the stock internals to the limits at 10psi with the y7 head. You could do the same with a T3 and a $15 2.5bar MAP sensor mod.
