help on welding runners
i have a question ween you guy's are wilding your runners ween they are so close their touching or for that matter at all do you guys make a jig to hold them in place so they cant warp because i never see any tack welds on them or is it one of thous thing that if your really good no if not yes
Best deal I have come onto here is from Weirtech on here. I have tried it and it is certainly the best way.
Leave your manifold in the jig you made it in....that is whatever locates the collector in relation to the head flange (if you don't have this already then you have more issues to deal with than just this warpage). Once the mani is tacked in 4 to 6 points at every joint, remove two runners so you can access whatever two you leave in place.
Weld the runners that are still attached to the headflange and collector entirely, except don't weld them to the head flange or the collector. Once your done, reattach the unwelded runners then remove the finished runners after they are entirely cool. Weld these runners entirely, then when done, reattach the runners finished prior and finish weld them to the collector and headflange....done....and everything still fits perfectly
