Default Speedometer and odometer not working

My speedometer and odometer went out on my 99 civic si yesterday when I shifted hard into second, but the tach, gas, and oil temp gauge are still working. I checked the fuses, they are ok. Does anyone know what the problem could be?

Mine went out too. Did you pull the codes?

The possible problems
1. vss is bad
2. wireing between vss and cluster shorted or broken
3. speedo is bad.
