Compression Test Results - Okay to run nitrous?
Im looking at running nitrous on my 97 f22b1.
We did the compression test and I came up with 170 psi straight across the board. Im not sure what the numbers are supposed to be but I know if they don't fluctuate that's good.
Do you think im okay to run nitrous.. 50-75 shot??
Thanks alot guys, Just making sure the psi isnt too high or too low and motor go bang right away, and Im not going to use it like a nut anyways...

that doesn't mean your not burning oil.. ur compression is just telling you if ur rings are sealing up good and if ur valve is doing their thing.. u could still be burning oil ya know..

yup, thought rings is most often the cause of burning oil. but if your compression is good you should take a look at the valve guides, that could be the source of your oil problem.

I dont have a burning oil problem at all. I was just wondering if those numbers are okay to run a small shot of nitrous with and my motor not go boom. I never get low on oil between oil changes. Still a strong accord at 151k. Right now its currently in the Toyota Arena at the York Fairgrounds waiting for Tuner Evolution tomorrow..

retarding the timing means to change the time when the spark plugs goesa off. advancing it makes the spark plug fire sooner, and retarding it makes it fire later. if you search theres actually a recent thread on here about retarding the accords timing for nitrous. from what i remember most people on here is running upto 75hp shots without retarding the timing and they are doing ok.
I contributed to that thread...well, most of it anyway
Anyway, you need to retard the timing approximatly 4 degrees. your accord should be running somewhere between 13-17 degrees advance. So, you need to set your timing between 9-13 degrees to avoid detonation.
Like stated before, use colder plugs. Depending on the kit, you usuially only need to go 1 step colder. Check what plugs you have now, and compare that to what the nitrous company is asking you for.
Again, like previously stated, Premium fuel will also help save your motor and will allow you to get the most out of your spray.
Goodluck
