Having problem with white smoking coming from the exhaust.
I have a 93 honda civic dx and I need help with my car problem.
At first, the car was overheating while I was driving for awhile then when my dad bought a new radiator and he forgot to close the radiator cap in all the way. While I was driving, I saw my engine is coming out with smoke so I stop the car. Then I saw my radiator car wasn't on the radiator , it was out. So coolant must of gust out to the engine. Now I have white smoking coming out of my exhaust.
I know why my car is overheating because my water pump is mess up. Need to replace it. I just want to know why my car is doing white smoking in the exhaust while it idle.
Could anyone help me?

Help you with?
1 - How do you know your waterpump is no good? It is possible that you just have very little coolant in the system.
2 - Your headgasket is more than likely toast.
3 - Why would you continue to drive the car with it overheating, smoking, whatever?

your head gasket is blown. when you change your pump i would suggest you change your gasket too. before putting everything back, i would also have the head checked to see if there is any cracks or if the head as been warped due to the excessive overheating.

No water / coolant going into the water pump to make the engine cool down. Thats what I heard from my dad old friend, he is a mechanician. He knows this kinda stuff. I'm just waiting for him to have free time to check the car and put in the parts to fix the car. But my dad now wanted another mechanician to fix it.
I hate the ones that charge you a price then go on and look for other problem and it cost like $700 to figure out where is the smoke coming from or something like that.
So with the blown head gasket, just do easy replace head gasket?

what???????? this makes no sense? if your pump is bad it will leak a crap load of coolant every where, is this happening?
and just because you have no coolant doesn't mean it's your pump. if your gasket is bad and your burning it up, eventually you will have no coolant.

on a sohc, yes. seems like your dad like to help you out alot. pick up a repair manual and you and your pops can do this in less than a day in your garage.
saving your a crap load of money and gaining some experience.
