B16 Cable Trans. VSS Wont Come Out. Where To Fill With Oil?
In my 90 hatch, my b16 obd0 cable trans cluthc **** the bed, I swapped it out, but couldnt get the VSS disconnected so I just unhooked it from the dash. Now since I cant get the VSS out, where do I fill with oil?
Also, about not being abel to get the vss out, the whole VSS thing looks weird, its got 2 prongs on it but nothing going to them, and there a 10mm bolt below it. Does it come apart soehow? Are those lines supposed to get used?

take the 10 mm headed bolt off spray the bottom with oil spray, pry/pull up it should come out. Also why dont you just fill from the fill hole?
no there is another whole from the top of the tranny... where you can shoot the oil down there... its by the bracket that holds the clutch cable up top.. and it should have a rubber cap covering it... what you do is squeeze the oil down trough that little tiny whole...

Theres a barb ontop of my trans to the right front of the clutch cable bracket, b[probably 1/2" ID and 2" sticking out"
Does it lead into the trans?

Seems to me like you havent even tried taking the 10mm bolt out that holds down the VSS. After the bolt is out, it will pull up, you'll have to give it a good pull, and try twisting it too.
As for the two "prongs" your talking about, they are used on the car the trans came out of. I believe power steering fluid runs into there, not 100% correct though.
What I did on my hatch, (since we dont have the hoses that run into the ports) I put some motor oil into one of the ports, took about 3 inches of rubber hose, and looped the two ports together. Just capping them off would work just as well (so nothing else gets in there)

They are for Cruise Control IIRC, and yeah capping or looping them should work.

you're the only person i've ever seen mention that on HT. i ended up doing that tonight because my fill/check bolt is practically welded and rounded.
seems to drive fine, pretty sure i got the same/similar tranny as the op (b16-s1)
has anyone else done this, that couldn't access their speedo or check hole?

well it's behind a part of the chassis/suspension so i can't get a socket on it.
used some pb blaster on it and vice gripped it some. practically rounded now.
i plan to take it to a mechanic to get it removed. and a new fill bolt.
but yeh filling through that vent seems to work fine
