Optimum Ride Height for DC5?
Hey all,
In all your opinions, what is the overall best ride height from stock to improve the DC5's handling? In relation to suspension mobility improvements.
All suggestions welcome

From my experience, you want to lower the car about 1.5" As soon as you start moving over 1.75" to 2" lower, the handling starts to decline, regardless of the lower cg.
This has to do with the shock travel up front and the geometry of the tierods (bump steer). Also, the rear end geometry really starts to go bad in that you start to experience shock binding.
A low DC5 also has a roll center that is 'below ground', which is not very ideal.

The rear should actually be higher on these cars if you want a car that'll actually rotate.

With lowering springs and OEM struts, there is no 'right way'.

Todd...is 1.5'' drop the ideal drop on a stock DC5 or one with extended ball joints like the ones you made?
I'm running an ITR setup (which sits about .75'' lower then the USDM Type-S if I recall) and with your extended ball joints couldn't I lower it about 2'' before I start to see any negitive effects because the ITR suspension layout is probably perfectly engineered from honda so that's .75'' off the factory USDM spec ride height + another 1.25-1.5'' from your extended ball joints?
Trying to figure out what would be the best as well.

I think you have me confused with the guy on clubrsx who made those.
But remember, shock travel is just as important as maintaining suspension geometry.

Ha, I think I must've! Didn't think there would be two Todds on the DC5 forum who actually knew what they were talking about suspension wise, lol!
What a coincidence!

I'm about to buy the tein S, but i can only find it for the 02 04 years do they still fit on my 05 ? it drops the front 1.7 and the rear 1.4 inches. does that sound like anything i should go for?
S-Techs are probably the best DC5 lowering spring out there.
Lowering is about perfect and springrate is spot-on for a good handling car. Put them with a set of Koni shocks and your DC5 will be an incredible handling car.

What/where are your measurements taken from? No way those are jackpad to ground measurements, which is somewhat the norm when it comes to ground/chassis measurements.
