Post Your Stock Head Power Levels ***HIGH HP CARS**
just trying to see wat the stock head can make, UNPORTED how far u can take it, this IS WITH aftermarket valve train, just stock ports.
Stock ports here, numbers are in sig. I'm running Supertech valvetrain and older GSR cams (I think)
.
I'll be upgrading to CTR cams when I get back and also thinking about getting the head ported.
I'll keep an eye on this thread to help me make my decision on the port job.

My old 84mm B16A made 450whp low boost 15psi and 616whp high boost 28psi on a bone stock head with Skunk2 springs and retainers. I put an RLZ ported head on it and made 540 low boost and 676whp high boost.
My current set up is a stock sleeved LS/VTEC with pistons and rods and a stock head with REV springs and retainers. It made 540whp on 20-21psi and 24-25psi it made 620whp 450 ft/lbs torque
Went 10.43@139mph 21psi 540whp
Stock heads can get it done, well VTEC heads at least

But isn't this almost 100hp less than a similar setup with a good head?
Stock Vtec heads are amazing, but there is room for improvement. In a big hp turbo application, 50+whp is a very realistic gain from a good head.
The more power you're making, the bigger your gains will be from a good head. At 750whp, you might pick up 100hp, where at 500hp you might pick up 50.

its exactly 100 less lol, and the exact same setup (almost) did make 100 more with a very good head on it.
agreed stock heads are deffinitly amazing in stock form, but for the money, a good port and whatnot will yield more amazing gains
ill find out what little things you can do to the head in a couple weeks., and what gains they yield .... same setup different head
