Default timing work, but its not working!

last week my timing belt brok on my d16z6. one of the screws on the cover fell and chewed the belt causing it to break

so i got a new belt, put it on etc etc. i know i cut corners the first time, but i just went with it. while testing it it ran rough as hell, and once its reached 3k rpm, it couldnt accelerate fast enough to save my life. it wasl ike it was running off 2 cylinders or something. Then i tohugh aaaah crap[, forgot the normal timing procedures.

so i redo it. i align the cam gear markings, like up, head alignment etc, then i lined up the crank marking, got the belt back on, then started the car. It ran for a while fine, but then it suddenly srated dying and jsut hung on to sputtering life trying to quit. turned off car, restarted ito nly to have the car barely running and life in it with rpms lower than i could read and car jsut sputtering wihle it "ran". i stopped there cause i was fed up. timing belt was hard as hell to do and took a lot too.

one of my friends said "hope your vavles arent bent". with those words he scared me half to death. i need to head for a mini me im doing soon. does what ive explained give any hints to bent vavles? or is my timing just off? Ive had someone else tell me dohc would bend valves when timing gets all screwed up (like if the belt suddenly jumps a few teeth) but its not normal in sohc. jsut something someone else told me.

some hlep would be appriciated (jeez i hope my head is still good *sob*)

Do a compression test. That'll tell you if your valves kissed your pistons.
