crx wreaks of gas
I've got an '88 crx with a zc swap that just wreaks of gasoline when driven. I was told that I might want to try replacing the o2 sensor, but the guy that I bought it from said that it was recently replaced. I've also been told that zc's have the tendancy to run rich. Any other suggestions of other things that I should check out would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Take out the cargo bay area and look around where the fuel pump goes in. You may have a leak there. This area would cause you to smell it real bad. Also check on the filter that is on the firewall. If anyone messed with those fittings then your crush washers may be causing it to leak.
It's not leaking under the car, and I don't belive there's a leak near the fuel pump (because I have all that open so I can see it on a daily basis). I will need to check that filter on the firewall though. Is it just a matter of replacing the crush washers if that's the problem?
One of the fuel lines on the driver's side next to the fuel tank on my CRX was also leaking from rubbing against something but I would smell gas for 6-12 months till I ever saw it leak onto the ground so .. check the fuel lines under the car near the tank!

if it is not your gas tank or your exhaust. There is a vent line in the engine compartment that goes into the passenger side fender try checking that it did not come off.
Fill up the car with gas, drive a few miles and check for gas leaking out around the gas tank. Also check the fuel lines from the firewall to the motor. Touch them with your hands and check for wetness.
It may also be the rubber connection between the filler and the tank. On these cars at the age they are this connection starts to deteriorate and you get a strong gas smell. Thing that sucks is they are behind the interior panels so replacement isn't always easy.

Had this problem as well as connections on the filter and from the filter to the fuel rail. The only time I smelled it while driving was on the connections on the filter. It leaked down the firewall and made it into the area where the harness passes through.
Hope you figure it out though!
