cv axle locking ring

Default cv axle locking ring

if i pop out my cv axle(new) and later reseat it can i reuse the locking ring on the inner end of the cv axle...are they available at autozone or other stores

yes u can, an no their not available at autozone but im sure you could find something to suffice.... and besides if u buy new axles they come with new rings anyways...

thanks,this is new axle which i need to reseat in the tranny..so i wont be buying another one..if it comes out bad(twisted/cracked) i'll replace it...dont want to mess up the job over a little locking ring... i shud have kept the rings off the axles i removed...thans compo1

no problem bro.... i've taken out an reused the same axle like 5-10 times and never had a problem with reusing the lock ring... i mean maybe it says somewhere ur supposed to change it but i've never heard that nor had any issues... good luck

glad to hear that you've had no problems JDM SOHC. I am about to reuse some axles that are in good shape but I read in a chiltons ( not the best source) that the rings should be replaced every time the axle is removed.

yeah i went through 3 trannys in a month so in that time i was taking out an puttin in axles like no other haha... but yeah i've just always made sure that ring is able to lock and its been alright... as long as u cant pull it out with ease when u put it in u should be fine, thats how i always judged anyways..
