Temp. keeps rising in car, not blowing hot air, fan doesn't kick on...
Head gasket... I'm having the same problem on my 99EX. If you have a block tester you can check that way. If you don't know what it does, it's a tube filled with blue fluid that you put over your radiator opening and it will change the blue fluid yellow if there is exhaust gases present in you cooling system. I have the same symtoms you do and I block tested it and the fluid turned yellow within 5 min.!! NOT GOOD!! The reason your fan isn't kicking on probly is because there is an air pocket created by headgasket by the fan switch and it's not getting enough coolant to sense and turn the fan on. Same with your heat, air pockets created by leaky head gasket.

well, a headgasket would be the most costly of time and money. i would suggest bleeding the system first. get all the air out and see what happens from there.

i know for a fact it isnt a headgasket, the motor has 12k on it, the oil and coolant are as clean as day. after messing with it a little more i think i just have a **** load of air in the system so tomorrow im gunna try and get it all out. everythime i run the car for 10-15 minutes it gets hot so i shut it down and the over flow tank empty's so there has got to be a lot of air in there. hopefully thats all of my problems right there

there is no breather on my motor, i did make the mistake as to not pay attention to the overflow tank so that wasnt good. and like i said before its def not the head gasket, not with 12k on the motor and the fluids as clean as they are.
i tried bleeding thr system again temp went up so i turned the car off for 20 minutes then tried starting it with the cap on and after a while it starts bubbling in the overflow tank. i dont see the HG being bad since the car has no miles on it and last time i drove it there was no sign of that what so ever in my old gsr...
The temp only rises becuase the fan isn't on, with my old setup I just put my fan on a switch which I could turn on manually, problem solved.
Or... You can find the pinout diagram and make sure the right wire is the correct location of ecu. Might just be the fan switch that is bad.

well i think it ended up being a faulty cap. changed the cap out and now the car blows heat, the bottom hose gets hot and the temp doesnt rise to high. but it does seem to sit higher then normal maybe cause im sitting and not driving idk. there seems to be a whole lot of stem coming out of the bay now but im pretty sure its from all the coolant burning off from getting everywhere

steam is def from all the old coolant burning off i wouldn't worry about that but what does the temp gauge read? it should sit about 2-3 notches below the halfway mark.....
and with the new cap does your fan finally turn on? i kno mine used to take forever sometimes

Love how the noobs start with the most expensive pain in the *** thing to fix first.
hahaha hope you figger it out soon brofa. I'd offer my opinion but I was just gonna suggest bleeding the system.
Definatly the head gasket change that before anything else lol

I was just offering advise because the symtom's are exactly like mine, and mine was a headgasket. Second of all, how do you figure it's expensive? The headgasket kit cost's what...? $30-$40 bucks, maybe..... not to mention if you do the labor yourself which I'm assuming he is, it's not expensive at all. A DOHC headgasket can be done quickly, more like one evening. I've done about 20 of em' in my career and they are not that hard at all. Anyway, just trying to help out, just like everyone else hear. Good luck man, hope you figure it out.
