>>>>>overheating issue<<<<<
The problem I am having is after my car is running after a while it starts to overheat. The fans werent coming on so i unplugged the fan switch that is on the thermostat housing and jumpered the two plugs. the fans came on so i thought problem solved i just need to replace that switch. well the fans now are always on and the car still overheats. Any ideas?
try bleeding the system, start your caR with the radiator cap off til it reaches operating temp. if it still happens its the thermostat
I thought the thermostats get stuck in the open position on Honda's ??
I would say its air in the system, my car would take ages to warm up, i think it was air in the system cause the problem has gone.

rent a "block tester" and buy the liquid, follow instructions and this will tell you if you if you have a bad headgasket without removing the head.

Honda thermostats fail in the open position, meaning your car will never get to NOT if it takes a crap. I wouldnt point at a head gasket right off the bat, bleed/replace the coolant and see where that gets you.
Check your oil and make sure it looks like oil and not chocolate milk.

thanks guys, i will try and bleed the system first. the other thing is that if i turn on the heater while i'm driving it will slowly go back down but eventually try to overheat again. looked at the oil looks good and my radiator is still full.

That is normal.....if your car ever overheats you should turn your heat on full blast and get some of that heat outta there.

I just tried to bleed the system and no air bubbles but the car tried to over heat. What i did notice is that the lower radiator hose was completely cold and the upper was hot. Can it be that the thermostat is stuck closed not allowing coolant to go thru?

Possibly, replace it.

if you dont get burned or drop a little blood then your not a mechanic.
but thanks for everyones comments, i just replaced the thermostat and problem solved. thermo switch is perfectly fine it just wasnt seeing any hot coolant so it wouldnt turn the fans on.
