Default loose shifter

i got a 1991 crx hf with a b18 ls motor in it. The shifter is real loose. If i have it in gear i can still move it around. I searched around and is it the Shifter Stabilizer Bushings? People said that it will take the slop out of the shifter. I just want to make sure before i buy it. Also will the Shift Linkage make it loose? Do they usualy go bad?

Yes, it is probably your shifter bushings. I have the same problem with my 16 year old ef. I just got mine in and will install them tomorow. and dont worry about the cost, I got my Energy suspension Bushings for $10. Summit racing has them for like $13 i think. usualy this will take out 99% of the slop in the shifter. as for wheather or not the linkage can go bad, unless it has been hit/bent by bottoming out (really hard) which is highly unlikely they dont go bad. Atleast i have never seen it happen.

its probably the u-joints in your shift linkage, the bushings will deteriorate over time and cause the problem your talking about. the ES bushings will help to a point but wont completely cure your problem

I have this problem, i.e. while in gear the stick wiggles. I just changed my SHIFT LINKAGE bushings yesterday with the energy suspension kit. My observations, the shift i.e. throwing it in gear feels solid. HOWEVER there is still some wiggle and slop while the car is in gear. Just my observation.

you either have bad bearing on the shifter its self, (ther are little spacers and when they wear out the shifter will have slop) if so time to get a new shifter good excuse for short shifter. or wher the ball protion of your shifter is there is another bushing there, you will need to replace it. Call Energy and they can get it for you i cant rember what it is actually called a buddy had this problem.
