Need help replaceing head.
You might as well change the timing belt, water pump, timing belt tensioner, and any other parts that would normally be a pain to change with the head on.
u might as well get some ARP head studs while ur at it. theyre very strong and last forever. and pick up a metal headgasket too, it'll keep the compression up and be a good idea in case u ever run boost or nitrous
OEM headstuds = 70$ for 10 bolts that recommended to be used only once.
ARP Headstuds = 100$ for 10 studs that are rated for many uses and umpteen times stronger. BTW, studs make putting the head on so much easier.
Now on the headgasket, the stock A6 one is paper and is a pita to clean off. The Y8 head gasket is 30$ or so from the dealer and you get the benefit of a metal contact surface; the compression increase isn't anything to cry home about either.
