I own an 89 stock hatch and as long as I have owned the car the check engine light has never came on. how do i test the ecu to get it to shoot codes out

 

if your check engine light is on then your ecu light should be blinking... just have the car on, i assume you know where the ecu is and the light is... just check the light.

if you dont know this is how you read the blinks:
one blink and a pause=10
blinks without pause=1 per blink

meaning: blink____blink___blink_blink_blink
would mean 23

im not even sure if there is a code 23, but thats how you read it.
