Block Notching d16z6
I have a question that may be an easy one to solve. I'm building a d16z6 for my 90 EF9 Hatch. Heres my question, does anyone have experiance with notching the block and the main cap bearing housing? I'm using eagle rods and i hear that you need to notch the block and the caps for rod clearance. I'm a little unsure of myself and the maching shop said that they don't do that king of stuff (its a little mom & pop outfit). Any info that you can help me out with would be great!! Pics would be awesome!!! Thanks!

My build thread has pictures of girdle notching and maybe block notching
You don't really have to take all that much out of the block. Right at the base of the cyl where the rod would hit, you go maybe 1/4" across on angle (or approx 1/8" depth?..ish) and 3/4-1" across.
Pick up some reemer bits from harbor freight or you're going to be there alll day. Reemer bit and a die grinder or drill will make your day easier
On a Z6, or at least on mine, the ARP2000 bolts did not clear the girdle. We had to notch out for that as well, again with a reemer bit on a die grinder. Made pretty short work of it, you don't really have to take out too much material.
