Default Having 2 ECU's

Ok, guys I have a couple of questions and wonder if anyone could help out here. The hondata reflash group buy kinda inspired me to post this up...

I'm going to eventually reflash my ecu. But just in case there are any problems that occur where I would need to take my car into the dealership, I want to have a stock ecu on the side so that I can swap it in and have minimal warranty worries (I've heard of DC5 owners doing when they get kpro). I would reflash the extra one and keep my OE one stock

So my questions are:

1. If/When I find an extra ecu, are there any differences between the 06 and 07? Does VSA make any difference on the ecu? Different ECU codes (RRB-A04 or RRB-A05)?

2. If/When I find an extra ecu, what will be required to make it work for my car? Sync-ing up with the chip in the key, ect... And are there any resources out there that could help me do this myself (factory manual for honda mechanics)? Or would it just make more sense to have hondata do it when I send them my stuff for the reflash?

If anyone can help out here, that would be great.

Thnx

You would need someone at a Honda dealership to intialize your new ECU(which involves using the Honda HDS tablet). You cannot plug 'n play the new ECU even if you have a service manual.

You would need a year-specific ECU.

Unless you know a tech at Honda who is willing to risk their job over 'warranty fraud' youre kinda SOL...

all I can say is that your a baller, for rollin w/ 2 ecu s. I know that you have to take it to the dealer so that they could reprogram it, b/c our ecu s come w/ that immobilizer system on it.

i say it makes no sense to have 2 ecus... u have to go through a **** load of trouble just to be able to use both and the same car, and spend alot of money....in that case i would just spend the money u have for the second ecu and go with an ssr header. like i say F**** the warrenty no tune....no life...

^^thanks, bro, I'm trying to figure out how to do it...

So let me ask you this then, why does hondata require your keys with the reflash? Don't they have to do something with the immobilizer? So if my stock ecu was already linked to my keys, wouldn't sending them the new one with my current keys do the job? I guess I'm not understanding this...

Are you saying that even if I did get the spare ecu reflashed, and I need to put the stock one back in, there is a process you need to go through for it to work again (assuming the immobilizer situation was all worked out)?

Get my logic here?

They dont ask for your keys.

Taken from Hondatas site:

"How do I get the reflash?

You will need to remove the ECU and via a dealer send it to Hondata. Unlike reflashes for other Honda models you will not need to send the key and immobilizer; just the ECU. Fill out this form and contact a Hondata dealer. Hondata does not sell direct. All ECUs must be sent to Hondata for reprogramming. No Hondata dealer has the equipment to reprogram this ECU."

ah, well that kinda sucks then. I thought they did ask for your keys, but I guess when I was talkin to people about it, it was with my buddy and his RSX-S. They do have to send in more than just the ecu and I guess I was just assuming our cars were the same way...

the two ecu option is no longer an option....
