Need advice on this gun!
I am looking at buying this SATAJET RP 3000. I already have a MINIJET and LOVE this gun. However my "big gun" that I have now isn't gonna spray any base/clear, just primer. So I am looking at this new SATA. I know this is top notch and I am wondering if the CFM consumption from this gun will drain my compressor while I am painting.
Gun: Average Air Consumption:10.5 CFM@29 PSI
Compressor:
Craftsman 33gal 2hp
8.6 SCFM@40 PSI

I just got done reading a section of this Hot Rod Paint/Body issue. The instructor of this class was using a Sata gun (this is the class instructor for HOK, so he knows his stuff). The regulator on the wall read 30PSI, which he said translated into only 22-24 PSI at the gun. So keep in mind you will have that additional loss.
Idk if that helps or not.

I have the SATA Jet 2000 RP Digital, one of the best clear coat guns out there, I love it.
As for compressor consumption I'm not sure, I leave my gun at 19PSI to the handle when spraying clear. I've always sprayed in a body shop so I never worried about it.

I only sprayed at school too. Thats the only gun I will ever use. I just don't know if this is going to work at my house.

i have a Sata 3000 RP, I spray between 25-29 psi depending on what im doing and it works out great. As for your compressor, it should be ok. My friend has a 33 gal craftsman compressor and he sprays with the Sata 3000 HVLP at 23-25 psi andit holds up pretty good.

you will be alright with your compressor. and why dont you look into the sata nr 2000 or the iwata lph 300 its cheaper and sprays good. to be honest imo i feel if you dont paint for a living you dont need no 500$ gun. i own 500$ sata and iwata guns but thats because i use to be a painter but i have also spray lower quality spray guns and if you know how to adjust the air and fan on some of those guns you can make a 150 -250$ gun (not all of them) spray flawless. two of the cheaper guns that i personally shot before and was pretty impressive with was the devilbiss and transtar gun. before you go and drop 500$ on a sata look into the two brand that i mention
I use a sata jet 90 for base and clear, its never let me down, i really need to give it a good shining up.
seriously though, my friend uses those spray guns at advance auto parts and **** always comes out really good.

I do paint on the side and money realy isn't a factor here. I would rather fork out 500 for a good gun and get good quality then buy some bs. And it will last a liftime if taken care of.
