Default paint compressor minimum psi

On average for a hatch it takes about 10 minutes to pass a full coat. with a compressor at 45psi I should be able to pait a car at what cubic foot per minute do I need for a compressor? in other words I shouldnt need a $500+ compressor should I? at sears what will throw a decent coat of paint on a hatch with good body work on some what of a budget. and give me a preferable temp range for the booth. garage paint with a **** load of flourecents and heaters+exhaust fans.

Different guns will require different cfm. My HVLP uses 14cfm but, I've seen several guns only need 9-11cfm. I've primed with a smaller compressor and was waiting for it to keep up quite a bit. You could compensate by using a slower reducer though. Good luck!!

cfm is your biggest concern . you can have 10000 psi but if the cfm rate of the compressor isnt enough, your gun will suck it dry. you should be looking at getting a compressor with at least 12-14 cfm.

what ever you do get a good water/oil seperator and make sure your compressor is not going to be starting stopping in the middle of spraying, this will raise and lower your pressure at the gun and change the way you're atomizing the material. it looks like *** if you have this problem and you;ll have fish eye problems without a good seperator
