New Wheels For RR
Hey Guys,
I have been tooling around the forums and have seen some RR's with Marchesini and OZ aftermarket wheels. What is the advantage/disadvantage of getting aftermarket wheels for our bikes aside from aesthetics? What are some aftermarket wheel companies aside from these two? In addition, what are some mods that will make the 03 RR really stand out or make it a better handling/performing bike?
Thanks guys.

Lighter weight, less unsprung mass, less reciprocating mass, faster to turn, faster acceleration/deceleration.

Carrozzeria comes to mind.

Time spent at a track school or practicing techniques in a safe environment.

By far the best money you can spend if you want to improve your overall performance. Nothing makes a bike faster than a skilled rider. Plus it doesnt stay with this bike, you can take it with you when you buy another bike.

Anybody have the pics of the BST wheel failure on a duc from a couple years ago? I could not find pics or the thread anywhere. When I think of CF BST wheels that's what I think of.

I dont want to see it then. If it is just going to ruin the beautiful mental picture I currently have I dont think I could bear to see it.

you have to accept some failure, specially on the streets... same goes for MAGNESIUM. I have ridden both and I would not hesitate to buy BST, you still need to be cautious. The BST's are made to a very high specification, but like most carbon items, have life expectancy... ($3500 consumable item
) but so does magnesium and even forged aluminum.

I would only buy wheels that have been tested throoughly such as OZ or marchesni.
There is a new company selling magneisum wheels for 1098 shipped
good luck, at that price, they've never been tested, I would be hesitant to even ride on them.

Wa.... 1098$ shipped?
If you have a 10$ head, wear a 10$ helmet... If you have a 1098$ life, ride a 1098$ set of rims

A lot of people said the same thing about Rota wheels for cars... and they've been proven to be durable.
It would be nice to have a cheaper option for lightweight wheels for bikes - no way would I spend $1600+ on a set.

Perhaps .RJ but I know some of my friends have had failures with rotas in race applications... I won't own them. I guess you have to expect some failures. I also understand that not everyone is made of gold, so wee need alternatives. For my dollar I am shopping quality not price... to each his own.
Has anyone received a set of Durrani magnesium wheels yet? There's a lot of hype about them recently but I've never seen pictures of an actual wheel.
Also, they claim the lower price comes from a new process that sounds a lot like SSR/MUGEN's SSF (semi solid forging).
