have you tried hitting it with a hammer?

sounds like a bad connection at the fuse box....

There isnt a starter fuse, so its not a fuse problem.

As basic as this sounds, try removing both battery terminals, cleaning them, and reinstalling them. Then make sure the power wire on the starter is secure and also the starter solenoid wire is not corroded and is making a good connection. Lastly, check the negative battery terminal wire, where it bolts to the transmission. Make sure that bolt didnt loosen up and that its making a good connection.

If all of those things test good, then use a voltmeter on the starter solenoid wire and have a friend turn the key to the cranking position. Measure for 12V. If 12V is not present, start investigating the ignition ball switch.

yeah there is no starter fuse, but one of those large fuses in the underhood fuse box will make the car not start as well....i blew it on my old ef and the starter wouldnt even click....changed it and it worked like before...

I am having the same problem. I replaced the starter last week and was fine. It stopped working again tonight. All I did was tap it and it stared working. What does the shock do that makes it work? Solution?

if u have to hit it to get it to work the solution is a new starter...or u can just replace the brushes and see if it fixes it

was your new starter from a junkyard or was it reman from an auto parts store? if it's reman maybe you should take it in and have them test it. only takes you 10 min to yank that thing out.

I'm having the same exact issue. I tested current on the ignition switch under the dash and that's fine, battery volts fine, starter is getting power, all grounds tightened, all fuses checked and still nothing. We then took off the test wire from the voltmeter and bridged from the battery to the starter and the car would crank and start right up. But if I try at the key, there's nothing. Going to check out the clutch switch tomorrow.
