8:1 FMU w/ 310s or VAFC w/ 370s
did a search, sorry, but my question just wasnt really answered. just got rid of the mf2 on my fmax for a 99gsr, and was wondering which way i should go. heard good and bad things about both. i'd get a standalone, but we all know how much those go for. i dont think im in dire need of one if im a daily driver boosting 6lbs anyway. will take it to the tracks and turn it up to 9lbs once in a blue moon. which method will do best for me?
I would run 310's w/ 8:1 FMU, that's what i run, w/ 10 lbs. I love it.
, I ran VAFC w/ RC 440, at idle sucks *****
But i don't know with 370s?

What base fuel pressure were you running ?

will how do you have the safc setup to idle nice and cozy? also whats your fuel pressure at idle with vac line connected and w/o.... I might get 370s instead of 440s to avoid idle hell
I plan 9-10psi someday.... would I be ok with 370s in the long run?

Maybe it's just my luck, that i have issues with my idle. I "had" 440 with the V-afc hack, and with -25 at 1k rpms. It wouldn't even idle pass -25 to -50. I have a straight B20Z, and notice that someone else one this board has a B20 Vtec, and has a trim level of -25 too. But I'm just curious if his idle is sometimes like that? but some days it idles goods, and other days it idles like poop, and sometimes dies. I would hate that to happen to me at a stop light on a 6 lanes cross way. I drive alot, i rather have reliability than anything... but then again I'm turboooooooooed

The AFC hack idles like stock for me and the vac-boost transition is smooth as well. It's very adjustable and maintains stock fuel pressures.
I'll never go back to an FMU based setup.

everyone has different setups.. so its hard to say what will work with what. from the past countless threads... id have to say that 8:1 and 310s was most recommended.
with the 6:1 ratio.. theres a chance you might run lean. thats why most people recommend the 8:1. ive done this same topic before and the guys pointed this out for me.
the safc is good because you can change the settings.. but you wont really know how its REALLY affecting your fuel delivery unless u take it to a dyno.

im planning to take it to the dyno to get tuned. the thing is getting an fmu, inline, and injectors will run me around the same as injectors and a vafc. its just if i went w/ the hack, i'll pay an extra $200 to get it tuned right. is the extra $250 worth it?
