Default air coming out of intake manifold....

i have a newly rebuilt gsr motor and i think i messed up the timing. also, when it starts and runs, when i step on the gas, it almost stalls and like coughs air out of the intake. is it possible that i bent an intake valve by running the car with the incorrect timing??

backfiring through the intake is USUALLY a sign of misfiring. intake valve is opening on exhaust stroke or compression stroke. double check your timing.

yes it could be possible a valve could be bent. how bad, i'm not sure.

what i would do is get your timing back to spec and perform a compression and leakdown (if you have shop air) tests. that should determine if you damaged your valvetrain and what cyl. if so is damaged.

i did out the timing back to spec. and it actually ran a little bit better after but it still coughs back through the intake when you hit the gas. also, can you do a leakdown test with the head on the car???

A leakdown test requires that the head is still on the car.

You can try the compression test as well. Have you adjusted your valves? If they are too tight (not fully closing), it could cause your symptoms.

cyl 1 - 0 psi actually it was less than 10
cyl 2 - 210 psi
cyl 3 - 190 psi
cyl 4 - 200 psi

is there a way to test and see if there is a valve stuk open???

Try adjusting your valves. Cylinder 1 may be adjusted too tightly, which would cause the valve(s) to remain open.

A tool like this helps immensely with a B-series VTEC head.
