Default -Intake??-

I've just purchased a cold air intake off E-bay...Nothing fancy, just the intake. My question is, do I have to adjust the timing now that it's getting more air? This is the first mod that I've accomplished, and the engine is pulsating from 1000 rpm's to 1,300. The 2 vacuum lines are correct, but it seems that the e.g.r valve is pulsating consistently, unless I restrict the volume of air with my hand....Then it drops down to 1000. What's going on??? Please help.
Thanks,
-Shadow-

Thanks for the reply. If I have a v. leak, why wouldn't it have done the same with the oem air filter in place? And where should I start to solve the problem.
Thanks again.

The thin line that I believe you are referring too.....I just connected it to the smallest line input that it had on the pipe.
The intake had two areas for the lines, so I just copied the transfer to both of the lines.
It runs fine now, it's just that the rpm increase threw me for a loop. It hiked up to around 1,200 to 1,300 constantly. I took it off and installed the original, and it quit.
I assumed that the air had dramatically increased (as it's suppose to) and boosted the idle, so I adjusted the idle screw, and it smoothed right out. It stopped pulsating.
Now..... if I crank it up, and punch the gas (which I know not to do) without the engine getting to operating temp. it will do it. I'm thinking that it didn't have time to lean out, and like I said, I thought it was getting to much air. She seems to be doing fine, now that I've adjusted the idle screw. Even if it seems to be running fine, is there still a chance that something may still be wrong? I checked all of the lines, and I didn't find anything missing or split.
Thanks man,
-Shadow-

Sounds like you didn't cap the open nipples on your intake manifold after you ripped out the old vaccuum lines.

Nope.....I didn't know that I was suppose too. Did that confuse the computer in some way? Never mind, I guess it confused something......It lost suction/pressure. Right?
Anyway, all seems well......for now.
Thanks a bunch guys,

Man, it's not getting any more air than stock. An intake doesn't really do anything... Definately don't worry about your timing.

Well with a sri you can suck up hot air into your engine. With a cai you can suck up water.

LOL dramatically. hehehe we all wish that would be the case.

Double check all your vacuum lines again and reset your ECU too.

An intake adds anywhere from 1 to 3 whp on a stock prelude.

i'd say an ebay cai ($20 or so) with a k&n 4" inlet canister type filter (80$ one) with 3-4" adapter, you'd get maybe 5 whp. still worth the +/-100 bucks you'd spend.
