on a scale of one to ten how hard is it to change a 4 lug bolt pattern to a 5 bolt? how expensive? im going to be replacing the axles wont i?
With the right tools i'd say a 5. Its not bad at all and no you wont have to replace the axels. I think the hardest part for me was finding the right washer to offset the axels lack of threads when used with the 5th gen spindle. Once you find that its not too hard.

What washer? I didn't use anything special. Worked fine for me with just the 4lug axles and axle nuts

if you use 5th gen axels you dont need to use washers. but with 4th gen exels the humb isn as thick and the axel will move back and fourth and destroy your wheel bearings.

what is the purpose of this modification.. is it nessessary? Ive heard of a lot of people doing it but is the 4 lug bolt pattern that unstable that you would need to swap to a 5 bolt?
