Default preparing for EJ8 (96-98 civic) B-series swap, help needed

Recently I collected all of the things needed for swapping my built B16A into my del sol, and ended up selling the car and picked up a EJ8 (96 ex coupe). The stock motor is running pretty bad, so i've decided to rush the swap into my EJ8.. I have a few questions:

1.) Will the 95 Del Sol VTEC upper & lower radiator hose work on the EJ8?
2.) Since i'm converting the coupe to OBD1, Do I need to replace all sensors with OBD1?
3.) Do I need to use EM1 (99-00 civic si) linkage?
4.) I have the rear T bracket and driver side mounting bracket from a integra, will those work on the EJ8?

Any help is appreciated

1) yes, but just for ***** buy them (everything) for an EM1....
2) no either are fine, some are just extra **** left over from OBD2
3) yes
4) no pretty sure you need EM1 ****

I agree with most things. However, the DELSOL vtec (dohc) radiator hoses will work just fine. You have to get either a screw type hose clamp for the hose-to-radiator connections, though. The hoses are a lot wider than the radiator openings.

The sensors themselves dont need replacing, but the plugs are different. So, assuming that the motor is OBD1, you'll have to swap fuel injector and a few manifold sensor plugs. Just make sure you mark the plugs with masking tape and a sharpie so that you dont get the MAP and TPS and IAC, etc confused. Use the plugs from your JDM harness..obviously.

If the car orginally came with a D16Y7, you will need to rewire and re-pin the ECU connector so that the IAC will work. The D16Y7 has a 3 pin IAC, and the B series and everything else pretty much uses a 2 pin IAC. I think the Orange wire gets deleted, and one of the other wires moves to a different pin on the ECU connector.

The GSR bracket will DEFINITELY not work. You need a 99-00 si part. $60 new is what i got mine for.

the head is actually a PR3 OBD0 from a N/A build, and the block is a B16A3 with rods and pistons for boost..

I've already swapped the injectors to OBD1 as well as the distributor..
so I'm going to need an OBD1 engine bay wiring harness so the dizzy and sensors will plug up? if so which harness do I need?

You will still need to use the Obd2 engine harness thats in your car now..

a Obd1 one will not plug into your car.

get a jumper harness.. and run an obd1 computer

i would get an obd2 dizzy + injectors. or you can run obd1 injectors with obd1 clips on the obd2 harness.

are u REALLY going to convert the coupe to obd1.. this means.. Body harness out of a EJ1 coupe or hatch and all that fun stuff?

or do u jsut wanna run a obd1 ecu?

if so then ur just "jumping it to obd1" not converting it.

you can use any b series linkage Whether from a DC / EM1 / and the Del slow vtack.. i think....the vtec is the same as the rest..of the b series linkages

u gotta have the em1 rear bracket...

hope i helped!

So, I can use all B-series OBD2 sensors on my OBD0 (PR3) head/manifold and it will all work with my OBD1 ecu with a conversion harness?

yeah usually you dont have problems with OBD2 sensors on an OBD1 ECU'd car. You just need the PLUGS. not the harness from an OBD1, JUST THE PLUGS for injectors and the manifold sensors and plug ins like TPS, EVAP, MAP, IAC. The plugs are different on the OBD2 motor. If you use OBD2 sensors, use OBD2 plugs. If you're using OBD1 injecotrs, you have to use OBD1 injector plugs. You'd find that out anyway, as the plugs will not physically fit the injectors and sensors.

Basically, the plug has to match the sensor.

the plugs on the MAP, TPS, ECT, O2 sensor, thermo switch are all the same OBD1 and OBD2

the IAT, IACV, Distributor, VSS, Alternator, injectors are different...
i already told you what to do about the IAT, and the IACV... for the dizzy just repin it or the harness to witch ever plug you want. steal the VSS out of the Y8 tranny and put it in the B-tranny... swap the voltage regulator out of the Y8 alternator into your B-alternator (and probably the cover plate, might replace the brushes while your at it).

you will have some extra plugs, one would have went to the sensor on the crank pulley, one for evap purge that was bolted to the intake manifold, i think D16Y8s had knock sensors too didnt they? that **** is extra now too (dont argue with me there is a 99.9% chance he isnt running a P30/P72/P61)...

Nope, the D16Y7 plugs are different on the intake manifold. My 99 was all different and so was my friend's 98...so thats OBD2A and OBD2B...both had different plugs.

a: use your y8 engine harness on your b16
b: get a jumper to convert to obd1
c: get 99-00 si rear t bracket
d: d and b series mounts are the same 96-00
e: run si linkage. but the del sol linkage might work
f: si hose's will work for sure unless u have a ctr head

CTR uses a PR3 head, just like every B16A...the hoses are the same...
